TERMS AND CONDITIONS

STONE

  1. The tiles are natural stone and will contain variations of colour and shading and may well contain glass veins, which may be taken for faults or fissures. These are naturally occurring Quartz veins.
  2. The programme should allow for our works to be completed before the final cleaning of the building. Start and finishing dates for our works to be agreed before the order is placed.
  3. Contract is subject to re-measure on completion.
  4. Payment for the stone tiles will be requested prior to delivery except when ASPF laying service for copings, grilles and outlane is employed.
  5. If laying service used, balance as agreed in contract documentation.
  6. Failure to comply with the payment terms, ASPF reserve the right to charge simple interest on outstanding payment at 5% above the Bank of England Base Rate.
  7. This quotation is exclusive of VAT.
  8. Day work rates; All ASPF operatives will be charged at £28 per hour. For return visits: rates to be agreed prior to the work being carried out. Accommodation to be charged at cost plus £15 per day subsistence allowance per person. Mileage will be charged at 45p per mile.
  9. Liquidated damages between the main contractor and ourselves to be at the rate of 0.5% of the value of our sub-contract per week and to a maximum total of 2.5% of our sub-contract value.
  10. The main contractor to provide complete protection of our work after installation free of charge against physical damage, moisture, soiling, contamination and staining.
  11. The main contractor to supply safe and secure storage for our materials, preferably in one place for the duration of our works, free of charge, if relevant.
  12. The main contractor to supply hoisting facilities to upper and lower floors free of charge.
  13. The main contractor to supply water, electric light and power for our works, in close proximity, free of charge.
    N.B. It may be necessary on occasions to wet cut and polish marble/stone in position.
  14. The main contractor to supply any scaffolding required for our work free of charge.
  15. The main contractor to supply toilet and First Aid facilities free of charge.
  16. Where our tiles are to be fixed to timber floors, we require the floors to be covered with 18mm thick marine ply fixed with stainless steel screws at 9” centres, to provide a level and stable surface, free from movement.
  17. Where our tiles are required to be fixed to sand / cement floor screed, we require the screed to be cured for 28 days prior to commencement of tiling.
  18. Where stated, we have allowed for the application of 2 no. coats of silicone impregnator at the completion of our work, excluding antique tiles.
  19. The contractor is to ensure that:
    1. walls are plumb and straight to +/- 1.5mm in 3 metres;
    2. floors are flat and level, so that there is no more than 8mm gap at any point under a 3m straight edge. Should any ridges occur, consideration should be given to allow for a joint at that point. Consideration should also be given to allow movement joints at construction joints in concrete or screeds.
  20. Prices are based day time working and having continual work at all times. Should there be a requirement for any unscheduled break in fixing, or night work, additional costs will be agreed in writing.
  21. Our labour and material rates are based on an average adhesive coverage of 5 sq.m. per 20 kg bag as per the manufacturers recommended coverage, should this be exceeded due to uneven screeds etc. we will invoice the main contractor for the extra materials used.
  22. ASPF shall retain the ownership of the materials until it has received full payment for them. Prior to receipt of full payment, ASPF may (without prejudice to any of its other rights) retake possession of the materials or any part of them and may enter upon property owned or occupied by the buyer or his client, for that purpose.
  23. This quotation is based on current rates for labour and materials and is open for acceptance for 12 weeks from the date of the quotation and will be subject to negotiation thereafter.
  24. These terms and conditions form an integral part of our offer and take precedence over any other conditions where they are in conflict.
  25. Any templates that need to be taken can be completed by ASPF at an additional cost, or can be completed by others.
  26. After stone has been laid, ASPF can take no responsibility for settlement or movement cracks which may occur.
